Bill C-56 (Now Bill C-8) Reintroduced by Parliament

On November 5, 2013, in Patents, by Paula Clancy

Bill C-56 (“An Act to amend the Copyright Act and the Trade-marks Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts”) has been re-introduced as Bill C-8.   The purpose of the proposed Combating Counterfeit Products Act is, among other things, to provide trade-mark and copyright owners with more robust powers to protect their IP rights against counterfeiters.  We will continue to monitor the progress of Bill C-8 as it continues through the legislative process.
